Deadpool & Wolverine: First Trailer Released

Marvel fans got a treat during Super Bowl Sunday as the first trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine was unveiled, featuring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman reprising their iconic roles as the sarcastic mercenary and the clawed mutant.

A Reunion of Superheroes

The trailer gives a glimpse of the action-packed and hilarious adventure that awaits the unlikely duo, who have a history of animosity and rivalry. Deadpool & Wolverine is the first movie to bring the two characters together since 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which was widely panned by critics and fans alike.

However, this time, the movie is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which means it will be connected to the events and characters of the blockbuster franchise. The movie is also directed by Shawn Levy, who has worked with Reynolds on the hit comedy Free Guy.

A Star-Studded Cast

Reynolds and Jackman are not the only stars in the movie, as the trailer also reveals the return of Jennifer Garner as Elektra, the ninja assassin who appeared in 2003’s Daredevil and 2005’s Elektra. Garner will join forces with Deadpool and Wolverine to fight a mysterious enemy, who may or may not be related to Taylor Swift.

The pop star has been rumored to have a cameo in the movie, after she was seen hanging out with Reynolds, Jackman and Levy several times in the past months. Reynolds has neither confirmed nor denied the speculation, saying that fans will have to wait until July 26 to find out.

A Milestone for Marvel

Deadpool & Wolverine is the third installment in the Deadpool series, which has been praised for its irreverent humor, meta references and R-rated violence. Upcoming movie is also the first Deadpool film to be produced and distributed by Disney, after the company acquired 20th Century Fox and the rights to the X-Men characters in 2019.

The movie is expected to be a huge success, as it will appeal to both Deadpool and Wolverine fans, as well as the general audience who enjoy the Marvel movies. The movie will also mark the end of an era, as Jackman has announced that this will be his last time playing Wolverine, a role he has portrayed for 25 years.

Deadpool & Wolverine is in theaters July 26.
